October News & Reads
October was a BUSY month for me!
my life as a country album won 2017 Young Adult Book of the Year in The Independent Author Network's Book awards.
Edits began on my life as a pop album (hopefully due out Feb. 2018).
I read a couple Advance Review Copies (ARCs) for other indie authors AND
I continued my day job with the 1st Graders.
The wonderful thing about working with 1st Graders is how good they are for your ego! If you tell a 1st Grader that you've written something with 300+ pages, they are SO impressed that it makes you feel like you've accomplished world peace. Plus! They love to read with me.
With all of that, I only read four books in October, so I'm going to share a little about each one below.
An Invitation to Murder by Leighann Dobbs & Harmony Williams is the 1st installment in the Lady Katherine Regency series, and was a fun mystery set in the 1800s with sassy, modern heroine fighting for her independence and a darling pug. Genre: mystery / regency
Turtles All the Way Down by THEE John Green is the latest installment in compelling YA novels by this amazing writer. It was a incredible view into the life of a teen dealing with mental health issues. The scene at the hospital will stay with me forever. I can't imagine you being disappointed by the depth in this book. Genre: YA / Mental Health
Dirty Salvation by V.Theia is the 1st installment in the Renegade Souls MC series and is an EXTREMELY steamy read set in a very dark world of bad boy bikers. Violence, Trigger Warnings. BUT, I want to tell you, V.Theia did a great job of creating a dark world where you end up rooting for the "bad boys". Genre: Steamy Romance
As always, I encourage you to decide if these books are for you by reading the descriptions and reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. And, when you are done reading, please write your own review so that others, and the author, get to hear your opinion. Even the most famous authors love to know what readers think.
