Rock Album Audiobook, Life Moments, & Giveaways
As most of you know by now, my stories are inspired by music, and my books come together when words & lyrics collide. But my stories are also about RESILIENCE. How people overcome tragedy, illness, loss, abuse, and heartache to find a new life, and how LOVE sees them through. Right now, our world is experiencing all of these things. Loss, illness, tragedy, abuse.
So, today, I am going to share exciting news about my new audiobook with you and a lovely giveaway from beautiful human beings, but I also want to take this moment to share my thoughts about our world because we need RESILIENCE and CHANGE and LOVE just like my characters in my books.
I hope, whether you agree with me or not, we can still be friends, book lovers, and music lovers together while we respect each other’s differences. I hope you’ll hear what I have to say, see how I’m still learning, and then I hope you will stand with me as we try to change our world for the better.
BLACK LIVES MATTER, PRIDE MONTH, & WHERE TO BEGIN
I’ve been sharing on Facebook and Instagram posts by people who are smarter, wiser, and better allies to the black community than me. These posts have been helping me open my eyes and encouraging me to learn, share, and support the black community. They’re posts helping us actively start on a path leading to a distant future where racism is a thing of the past. It is not enough to simply be not racist. We must be anti-racist.
It’s time to challenge what we think we know, educate ourselves, and actively work to make a better world. I’ve had to do a lot of my own unlearning and new learning. I’ve had to put aside my initial, automatic self-defense at words that I thought I understood but really didn’t. Words like “white privilege, white fragility, and black lives matter.” It’s allowed me to see that this is really an issue of basic humanity.
I just turned in my teacher hat in May, so I hope you'll forgive me teacher voice...Today, I posted on Facebook about my immediate defensiveness to the words “white privilege.” You can read the whole post here: LJ'S FB POST
White privilege does not, in any way, disregard the challenges any white person has faced in life, but instead, it points out that if I was black (or another person of color), I would not only have had my challenges, but I would have another whole host of challenges and obstacles placed in my way simply because of my skin color. I would have been starting BEHIND before I’d even BEGUN.
So, how do we help move our world past hatred, abuse, and systematic racism?
Well, hopefully by learning, taking a stand, and loving each other. I’m going to list some resources here that I did not compile. Some I borrowed directly from the incredibly beautiful and talented Kathryn Nolan who shared them in her newsletter, and some I found through Instagram.
Additionally, June is PRIDE month. This is particularly poignant to me because our beautiful daughter came out not too long ago. The LGBTQIA community has accepted her, supported her, and been a light in her life. I’m incredibly proud of her journey as a person and the strength she shows every day. If you are interested in learning more and supporting the LGBTQIA community, here are some additional resources our gorgeous daughter has helped me compile for you:
I hope you know this talk has come from my heart with love and from a position of trying to be a better ally to these communities. I hope we can support each other on this journey.

"𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙩."
I wanted to be left alone to build my art until she entered my world with a bubble gum scent and heartbreak. Now, I don't know what I'll do once she leaves me...as they all have.
As a recovering alcoholic and a rude bastard, Seth Carmen knows he's better off alone. He's made a success of himself by focusing on the one thing he's good at: turning garbage into something stunning. But when feisty blogger, PJ Hensley, enters his world with her fairy-like quality, he suddenly can't imagine a life without her in it.
PJ Hensley is dealing with her own tormented past and a stalker she doesn't want to admit to having, but she's pulled herself together in order to graduate and focus on her future. The last thing she needs is a moody trash artist entering her world. But like all things Seth, he enters anyway with an intensity and focus that leaves her breathless.
When the stalker emerges from the shadows and causes PJ to run, Seth spends five months writing her letters, trying to convince her to come home. Can he prove they can weld their broken lives into something beautiful?
Inspired by Bon Jovi songs, comes a novel from award-winning author, LJ Evans, that shows how love and acceptance can heal even the toughest scars.

Thank you for reading my blog post, supporting me, and listening to my thoughts on our crazy world. My wish for every single one of you right now is a life full of HEA moments we make for ourselves, our children, and the generations coming behind us. I'll leave you with a song which reminds me about how much our children learn from us... and the fact that they learn it by our actions and not what we tell them.
Until next time, please take care of yourself, and...
